If you can’t borrow a truck to take brush to the McNeil wood-burning plant – never fear, Majestic is here! Or your college student is home for two weeks and wants your car to visit friends. Or you and six friends want to take a cooking class in Waitsfield but you all drive small cars.  Problem solved – Majestic offers about 70 vehicles, from subcompact Chevy Aveo to light SUV Ford Escape to huge SUV Ford Expedition to mini, 12-passenger and cargo vans. If you want a specific model, call to see if it’s available.

Unlike the big airport-based car rental companies, Majestic is locally owned and completely focused on customer service. Their Burlington site is on Route 7 at the Rotary.

Hourly, daily and weekly rates are available on the company’s website along with a helpful list of vehicles and how much stuff or people each can carry. Hourly rates range from $8.50 for sub-compacts and compacts to $32 for a 12-passenger van (plus sales & rental taxes). After 3 hours the daily rate is your best bet.
If your need for a second car is occasional, rental could be a very cost effective option. Businesses that pay mileage may find rental is a much better choice for employees traveling out of town. Round trip to White River Junction (92 mi. one way at $0.55/mi) is $101 at current IRS rates – which is more than the daily rental of almost anything in Majestic’s fleet!

Majestic’s owner Bob Lake wanted to provide better customer service than the nationally-owned rental franchise he operated – so he started his own company. Majestic has cars in Rutland and Burlington and can service clients arriving at either the Burlington International Airport or Rutland’s Regional Airport. They also offer one-way rentals between Burlington and Rutland, either direction, and provide service in Middlebury.
