Leigh Sheppard is a Master Barber and one of the few who still uses a straight razor. She says a straight razor and hot foam get the neck and ear hairs you can’t get with clippers and scissors. She is also an Adjunct Instructor at O’Brien’s Aveda Institute. And a Red Sox fan.

Leigh opened her shop in December 2007 after working at a local barber shop for years. Her loyal clientele (primarily men, as you’d expect, and a few women) travel from as far as Belvidere and Barre for her 20-minute haircuts. Leigh is a no fuss, no frills woman and her clients clearly appreciate that they can walk in for a cut and be done and on their way quickly.

Her repertoire includes military haircuts, flattops, buzz cuts, summer cuts, children’s cuts, fades, regular, and clipper cuts. She’s adept at trimming beards and eyebrows. For new customers or those unsure of what they want, she can cut gradually (a “regular” cut) and let the customer decide what they want – it doesn’t cost any more for the special treatment. Leigh recognizes that her reputation rests with every haircut she does; and she’s a barber, not a stylist – an important distinction.
