When driving by the big sign with flowers on it you remind yourself to come back in the spring for a walk through the gardens and woods to see what this place is all about. The Vermont Wildflower Farm is closed to visitors for the winter, but is still accessible by phone or online for ordering products. Browsing the website is a pleasure all its own – you enjoy the flowers of spring, summer and fall, all in one place at one time! Customers have submitted photos of their own wildflower gardens from all over the US (including neighbors in VT) – wonderful testimonials to what the seeds will produce.
Of course wildflower seeds are the primary product here. There are mixes for various conditions (dry, wet, shade, sun…), or emphasizing certain colors, for attracting wildlife (or not – there’s a deer repellant mix), for specific plant heights and regions. Owners Chris and Diana Borie are fussy about their wildflower mixes – including annuals and perennial plants that will provide blooms throughout the growing season. You can also select packets of seeds of individual plants, including rare woodland flowers; also available are flower bulbs imported from Holland, veggie seeds, berry plants and herbs.
Gifts that are not plants may also be purchased online or by phone (see the Vermont Post Planter at left). There is a nice selection of garden-related products. And if you want to save on shipping you can arrange to pick them up at the store. |
